Real Madrid has set its sights on Alphonso Davies, the Canadian left-back from Bayern Munich, as a primary target for the upcoming summer transfer window in 2024.

The current scenario for Real Madrid’s left-back position reveals uncertainty. Mendy’s performances haven’t entirely convinced anyone, and his contract expires in the summer of 2025.

Selling Mendy in the summer could be a potential option for the club. His backup, Fran García, has lost the trust of Carlo Ancelotti, yet the club believes in the Spanish player’s potential, attributing his struggles to a lack of experience and playing time.

Despite Davies being a top priority for Real Madrid, President Florentino Pérez seems inclined to change the game plan. Rather than paying a hefty sum for the player, Pérez is exploring the possibility of a player swap deal with Bayern Munich.

The current demand from Bayern stands at around 70 million euros for Alphonso Davies. However, Pérez is not keen on paying such an amount. Instead, he intends to propose exchanging some Real Madrid players to reduce the deal’s cost.

Players like Brahim Díaz, Mendy, or Dani Ceballos could be potential candidates for this swap deal. Pérez anticipates that Bayern might demand additional money along with the player exchange. Nevertheless, by offering one of these players, Real Madrid could significantly reduce the monetary aspect of the 70-million-euro demand.

The situation remains fluid, but it’s evident that Real Madrid requires a left-back for the next season, and Alphonso Davies stands as the preferred choice. The negotiations will determine the final outcome.
