With the new 4-4-2 system implemented during the pre-season tour in the United States, Real Madrid have found a way to fix the goalscoring problem that was certain to arise following the departure of star marksman Karim Benzema.

Carlo Ancelotti and his technical staff wanted to accommodate new signing Jude Bellingham in his preferred position which is at the ‘number 10’ role.

With three games into the new season, the Englishman has scored four goals and assisted another.

His impressive first official month as a Madridista has earned him the La Liga Player of the Month award.

A sudden injury in the 18th minute against Celta Vigo to Real star Vinicius Junior last Friday has caused a lot of uproar among fans.

No signings coming in

With less than 48 hours to go until the Spanish transfer window closes, it is now evident that the solution to the Brazilian’s injury will be to improvise on what is already available.

No signings are expected to be made by Los Blancos.

Ancelotti has a plan

One of the options being considered, as revealed by El Chiringuito’s Edu Aguirre is that head coach Carlo Ancelotti is planning a new system.

This will be utilized for the next six weeks, the reported duration Vinicius Junior will be out for.

The new system includes a 4-3-2-1 formation, commonly referred to as The Pyramid.

How the system will be set up

The starting lineup for this new formation will be to play a back four with three midfielders in front of the defensive line.

A lone striker will also be deployed with two attackers behind him.

According to Edu Aguirre, the new system will include: Kepa, Alaba, Rüdiger, Fran Garcia, Carvajal, Camavinga, Tchouaméni, Valverde, Bellingham, Rodrygo, Joselu.

Real Madrid play against Getafe for the first time at the Bernabéu this season on Saturday. This will also be the first game without Vinicius Junior following his injury.

It remains to be seen whether this system will be used by the Italian this weekend.
