Real Madrid youngster Arda Güler has once again found himself on the receiving end of public criticism from manager Carlo Ancelotti, following the team’s narrow victory over Sevilla.

Güler was about brought on as a late substitute with the score tied at 0-0, but Ancelotti changed his mind and kept him on the bench for the rest of the game.

The Italian coach said: “I had one thought before Modric’s goal, and another after. I had a more defensive player on the bench to replace Brahim, which was Ceballos. It’s not that complicated. I don’t have to explain anything. I think he understands it very well, and if he doesn’t, it doesn’t matter.”

This is not the first time that Ancelotti has publicly criticized Güler. In January, the coach said that the player needed to “fight and compete with his teammates” if he wanted to earn more playing time.

Güler’s future at Real Madrid is now uncertain. The arrival of Kylian Mbappé and Endrick in the summer will further limit his chances of playing time, and Ancelotti’s public criticism suggests that he is not convinced that the player is ready for the first team.

A loan move could be the best option for Güler at this stage of his career. It would allow him to get regular playing time and continue his development, without the pressure of playing for a club like Real Madrid.

Several clubs are already interested in signing Güler on loan, and it is likely that he will leave the club in the summer. The player himself may also push for a move, as he is eager to play regular football.

Only time will tell whether Güler will ever be able to establish himself as a first-team player at Real Madrid. However, his current situation suggests that it will be a difficult task, and that a loan move could be the best option for his development.
