In today’s match, Real Madrid faces a player who once caught the keen interest of Carlo Ancelotti but didn’t align with the club’s transfer policy.

Since the Italian coach joined Real Madrid for his second stint, he has sought the signings of various players for his project. However, the club prioritized different moves.

Carlo Ancelotti aimed to acquire Stanislav Lobotka, the Slovakian midfielder, as a complement to Madrid’s midfield. However, the club had reservations due to his age and contractual situation.

When Ancelotti joined Real Madrid, Lobotka had only spent a year at Napoli, and his contract extends until June 30, 2027.

Real Madrid opted to focus on signing Camavinga, Tchouaméni, and Bellingham – players with a promising present and future.

While Lobotka, at 29, still has several elite-level years ahead, the other three are expected to have more, barring injuries.

Despite not reaching the level of Real Madrid’s players, Lobotka has shown significant growth in recent seasons, validating Ancelotti’s interest.

Today, Santiago Bernabéu will witness Lobotka in action against a Real Madrid side dealing with numerous absences, notably without Camavinga and Tchouaméni.

Ancelotti might now be interested in his services, although he is content with the current midfield options of Toni Kroos, Fede Valverde, Dani Ceballos, and Jude Bellingham.
