David Alaba, two and a half years into his contract with Real Madrid, is pressing the club for an extension.

The Austrian defender, signed from Bayern Munich in 2021, faces the third season of his five-year deal with Real Madrid, marred by sporadic performances due to injuries.

At 31, Alaba is eager to secure his future beyond the current contract’s expiration on June 30, 2026, reports SPORT.

Dismissing rumors of a return to Bayern, he emphasized his comfort in Madrid and expressed a desire to extend his sporting career beyond the age of 34 in 2026.

While Alaba’s contract renewal takes center stage, Real Madrid’s sporting direction faces the task of resolving the future of other players nearing the end of their contracts: Toni Kroos, Luka Modric, Lucas Vázquez, Nacho, Lunin, Dani Carvajal, and Ferland Mendy.

Negotiations with each player vary, with only Kroos appearing likely to secure an extension. The focus is on securing Alaba’s future as Real Madrid navigates contract negotiations, with the seasoned defender eager to contribute to the club beyond his current agreement.
