Following his shoulder injury against Rayo Vallecano two weeks ago, Real Madrid midfielder Jude Bellingham has been on the sidelines for two games in a row.

Prior to the last match against Valencia, there were good chances he might return to playing. The unfortunate turnaround was when the club released a statement hours to the game confirming that the 20-year-old has suffered anterior instability of his left shoulder.

He was however included in the English national team’s squad list for their upcoming games against Malta and North Macedonia.

When asked about his player traveling on international duty, Real Madrid head coach Carlo Ancelotti on Saturday replied: “Bellingham is going with England, but to be evaluated. If he cannot play today, he cannot play for England. He has to do specific work to strengthen his shoulder and he will do so in the coming weeks. I think he will be able to return after the break.”

The player reported to national team duty on Monday and after tests were done, has been released. The Three Lions said in a statement: “Jude Bellingham and Levi Colwill will play no part in England’s forthcoming UEFA EURO 2024 qualifiers against Malta and North Macedonia. The pair arrived at St. George’s Park for assessments on Monday but will now return to Real Madrid and Chelsea respectively to continue their rehabilitation.”

According to Jose Luis Sanchez of La Sexta, the player is expected to arrive in Madrid today but will begin his recovery process tomorrow at the Florentino Pérez Sports City.
