Former Madrid midfielder is now favorite to take over from Ancelotti – report

Reports of Carlo Ancelotti coaching the Brazilian national team have been all over the media. The rumours were all sent to bed a fortnight ago when Brazilian Football Federation president Ednaldo Rodrigues confirmed that indeed, Carlo Ancelotti will take over as head coach of the national team from 2024.

This leaves the question of who will be Real Madrid’s manager. As reported by several sources, some names on the radar include Zinedine Zidane, Jose Mourinho, Jurgen Klopp, Julian Nagelsmann amongst others.

It seems Real Madrid already have their future mapped out. Former Los Blancos midfielder Xabi Alonso is the club’s favorite to take over from Carlo Ancelotti, according to Relevo. Xabi is now the head coach of Bundesliga side Bayer Leverkusen, and managed to take them to last season’s UEFA Europa League semi final. 

He played for Real Madrid from 2009-2014. It remains to be seen if indeed Carlo Ancelotti will leave Real Madrid after this season and if he does, it is in no doubt tha Xabi Alonso will be a perfect fit.
