Real Madrid youngster Gonzalo García made his first-team debut on Sunday night as Los Blancos hammered Cádiz by three goals to nothing at the Nuevo Mirandilla.

The 19-year-old came on in the 78th minute to replace Rodrygo.

He managed a shot on target after 11 touches.

At the end of the game, the player shared a heartfelt message on his social networks: “I arrived at the club when I was only 10 years old and today I have fulfilled my dream of being able to debut with Real Madrid. A match that I will always remember because there is nothing greater than wearing this shirt. Grateful to everyone who has made this special moment possible. Hala Madrid.”

After the game, the forward spoke to Real Madrid Television on making his debut for the first team: “I’m happy. I was nervous at first, but then I got over it out on the pitch. I’m very grateful for this. It’s been a dream of mine since I was a kid to play for the first team because I’ve always been a madridista.”

“It was the first time I travelled with the first team and it’s a new experience. The other players are very nice and they have made the experience a lot easier,” he added.

Advice from his teammates

“They told me to enjoy the experience, that I should go out on the pitch feeling good and help my teammates. They also said that I will remember this day.”

What he will do with his jersey

“I’m going to keep it, I’ll ask my teammates to sign it and I’ll keep it as a keepsake.”

The 19-year-old added: “Just like Nico Paz and I, there are a lot of players from the youth academy who are dreaming of this moment. It’s through hard work, hope and ambition that we’ve been able to get this chance.”

Winning against Cádiz

“They were a very difficult side to play against, on a tough pitch and with the fans behind them from the beginning to the end. It was a hard-fought and well-deserved victory.”
