On Saturday 12th August, Jude Bellingham stunned football fans around the world with his outstanding debut for the Spanish side Real Madrid. The 20-year-old midfielder, who made a €103 million move from German Bundesliga side Dortmund earlier this year, put on a masterclass performance in his side’s 2-0 victory against Athletic Club in LaLiga EA Sports.

From the very first kick-off, the young midfielder showcased his incredible skills on the ball, making quick passes and driving forward with confidence. He was instrumental in the Spanish club attacking play, linking up well with his teammates and creating numerous chances throughout the game. The midfielder showed great spatial awareness, constantly finding pockets of space and making intelligent runs into the box.

What stood out most about Bellingham’s performance, however, was his composure on the ball. Despite playing in the league for the first time, The English man remained calm and collected, never once showing any signs of nerves or hesitation. He took the ball in tight spaces, held onto possession, and distributed it with ease.

As the game progressed, Bellingham’s influence on the match only grew. He capped off an exceptional performance by scoring a brilliant goal in the first half, from a one- touch shot. The goal was a reflection of his performance: confident, precise, and deadly.

The player became the first English player to score on his Real Madrid debut since David Beckham in 2003.

The Spanish media was quick to heap praise on Bellingham after the game. The respected Spanish publication’s Marca called him “A player like a cathedral”, Diario AS: ‘The boss is Bellingham’ and LaLigaTV: “If Bellignham keeps playing like this, Real Madrid fans will soon lay a red carpet for him.”

His performance also earned him praises from his teammates and manager. The 14-time European champions manager said “Bellingham? He is not a normal player. He is out of the ordinary”. “He has a lot of personality and adapts very quickly to the team system. It looks like he’s been with us for a long time. He is a very high-level player.”: The Italian gaffer added.

His teammate Rodrygo Goes, who was also on the scoresheet said, ” I am very happy to play alongside Jude Bellignham because he is a star.”

For the player, the debut was a dream come true. “I’m playing with the best in the world and it’s really enjoyable” he said after the game.

For Los Blancos fans around the world, the 20-year-old midfielder debut was a glimpse of the potential that this young talent possesses. If he can continue to put in performances like this, there’s no doubt that he will become one of the most exciting players in European football in the years to come.
