There’s talk that Luka Modric, the Croatian midfielder, might be considering a switch to the Saudi Pro League.

Reports from Sport suggest that the 38-year-old is thinking about joining the top Saudi league once his contract with Real Madrid ends. If this happens, it could be his last adventure as a professional footballer.

In June, Modric extended his time with Real Madrid for another year. He has an impressive history with the club, making 503 appearances, scoring 37 goals, and providing 78 assists.

Modric will part ways with Real Madrid when his contract concludes at the end of the season. During the summer, he reportedly turned down a £120 million per season contract offer from a Saudi club.

Expected to retire at 38, Modric is likely to move to the Saudi Pro League, with Al-Ahli and Al-Ittihad rumored as potential destinations.

The Croatian midfielder has started in only five of Madrid’s 17 matches across all competitions this season. New signing Jude Bellingham has taken a prominent role in midfield and attack.

Real Madrid’s general director, Jose Angel Sanchez, ruled out a January departure, stating, “We have no ongoing talks with the Saudi Arabian League for a potential departure in January, nor any plans to sell him [Modric] at this time.”
