Official: Real Madrid announce departure of club captain after 23 years

In a heartfelt announcement, Real Madrid confirmed that Nacho Fernández, the club’s stalwart defender, has decided to leave after a remarkable 23-year journey. Having joined the club’s youth side, Alevin A, in 2001, Nacho’s departure marks the end of an era for both the player and the club.

Nacho’s journey with Real Madrid began at the tender age of 11, and over the years, he developed into a dependable and versatile defender, capable of playing across the backline. His loyalty, professionalism, and consistent performances made him a fan favorite and a respected figure in the dressing room.

In a statement, Real said: “Real Madrid C. F. announces that our captain Nacho has taken the decision to end his career as a Real Madrid player.
Real Madrid would like to thank and express our appreciation to Nacho, one of the club’s biggest legends.”

Throughout his illustrious career, Nacho accumulated an unprecedented 26 titles with Real Madrid, cementing his place in the history books as the most decorated player to have ever donned the famous white shirt.
