PSG have set a deadline of 10 days for Mbappé to make a decision. If he does not, the club will auction him

Kylian Mbappe has already made it clear that he wants to honour the one year left on his contract with PSG, and not to abandon his optional contract extension before 31 July, when his contract expires. The striker knows that from an economic point of view this is the best decision for him. What’s more, leaving this summer for Real Madrid, unless PSG give in on their demands, and Los Blancos present him with a stratospheric offer, anything more than going to Madrid now is losing money because it means giving up a contract with Qatar that is difficult to match.

If Mbappe were to agree to leave this summer, he would therefore renounce this second year of his contract and it is very clear that Madrid are not going to pay him that amount per season. The problem is that Mbappe would not be able to collect a signing bonus either, as he is not a free agent and it is an amount that would supplement his salary. Madrid, for example, offered him last year 25m net plus a transfer bonus of 130m, but there was no transfer fee because he was free.

It is therefore practically impossible for Real Madrid to deal with this operation if Mbappe makes it a condition not to lose money and PSG ask for the transfer to recover at least the investment in wages from last season, around 200 million gross. Los Blancos would have to pay 400m between the salary of the first season and the transfer, which is unfeasible
