Real Madrid, Barcelona, and Atlético unite in Super Cup revenue share

In a landmark decision approved by the Spanish football assembly, Real Madrid, Barcelona, and Atlético de Madrid find themselves at the forefront of a unique initiative to address concerns over the economic distribution of the Spanish Super Cup.

This move comes in the wake of Valencia’s initial objections, which were later resolved through mediation by Luis Rubiales, the head of the Spanish Football Federation, and the former president of Valencia.

Seeking to proactively avoid conflicts in the Spanish Super Cup edition, the Federation reached out to the powerhouse trio of Real Madrid, Barcelona, and Atlético de Madrid.

The objective was clear: convince these football giants to contribute a portion of their earnings to Osasuna, ensuring a fair and harmonious financial distribution. Remarkably, all three clubs willingly agreed to share the wealth, each contributing 200,000 euros to Osasuna, according to MARCA.

Osasuna, the beneficiary of this unexpected financial support, stands to receive a windfall exceeding one million euros, surpassing the officially designated distribution.

The magnitude of this financial boost could further escalate based on Osasuna’s on-field performance. If they progress to the final, the additional reward could be one million euros, and triumphing in the Super Cup might bring an extra two million euros.

This revenue-sharing model is intricately tied to the achievements of each team, taking into account their titles, sporting outcomes, television viewership, and their current valuation in the audiovisual rights distribution.

Importantly, the amounts received by the clubs do not exceed what they would earn from participating in a friendly match outside of Spain.

Real Madrid’s, Barcelona’s, and Atlético de Madrid’s collaborative effort to contribute to Osasuna’s share not only showcases a commendable spirit of sportsmanship but also exemplifies a collective commitment to maintaining harmony within the league.
