The Julián Álvarez and Real Madrid connection has been a long-standing rumor. In fact, the 20-year-old City forward had a stint with Real Madrid in the past, but eventually returned to Argentina, where he found success at River Plate, before moving on to Manchester City.

It seemed like the end of the story between Julián Álvarez and Real Madrid, but as per reports from the Argentine station Radio Continental via Mundo Deportivo,  the Spanish club is closely monitoring the forward who is under contract with City until 2028.

Argentina is abuzz with the news that Real Madrid views Álvarez as the perfect candidate to fill the void left by Benzema in the team’s forward line.

Julián Álvarez doesn’t have a release clause at Manchester City, where he’s gained prominence, a stark contrast to last year when he lived in Haaland’s shadow. The Argentine striker is continually showered with praise from Pep Guardiola, and the City boss values him highly.

As the reports suggest, Real Madrid’s interest in Álvarez is not fading, and he could be the next star to grace the Santiago Bernabéu in the quest to fill Benzema’s substantial shoes.

Karim Benzema left Real Madrid last season after his contract expires for Al-Ittihad, but the Spanish club didn’t sign his replacement last summer. The club decided to sign Joselu on loan and are seeking for a striker at the end of the season or in January if the opportunity arises.
