Real Madrid faces obstacles in their pursuit of 23-year-old left-back Alphonso Davies from Bayern Munich, according to sources cited by Mundo Deportivo.

The Canadian international, whose contract extends until 2025, has not yet committed to an extension, providing an opportunity for Real Madrid to secure his services in the upcoming summer transfer window

However, Real Madrid faces obstacles in their pursuit of Davies. Bayern Munich is reportedly unwilling to part ways with the talented left-back, initiating negotiations to extend his contract and thwart Real Madrid’s plans.

Christoph Freund, Bayern’s sporting director, confirmed the ongoing talks during a recent discussion about the team’s current affairs ahead of their Champions League clash with Manchester United.

Responding to inquiries about the impact of transfer rumors on Davies, Freund stated, “I don’t think so. Like many others, he didn’t perform well in Frankfurt.” He emphasized that Davies is under contract until 2025 and revealed ongoing discussions, adding, “We’ll see what happens in the coming weeks.”

This official confirmation from Bayern Munich serves as a response to persistent speculations linking Davies with a move to the Santiago Bernabéu next season.

The German club remains adamant about retaining one of its key players, while Real Madrid is keen on bolstering the left-back position, with Davies emerging as their top choice for the role.
