Real Madrid are set to receive a compensation following Vinicius Jr.’s return from injury on Wednesday, reports Mundo Deportivo.

Yesterday was a pivotal day for Real Madrid as Carlo Ancelotti witnesses the gradual return of key players who have been absent due to injuries in recent months.

The spotlight shines on Brazilian talent Vinicius, making a comeback after an almost two-month hiatus following an injury sustained during Brazil’s clash with Colombia in the World Cup 2026 qualifiers.

FIFA’s Club Protection Program: A Financial Boost for Real Madrid

Vinicius’s period of inactivity prompts a positive financial outcome for Real Madrid, with FIFA’s Club Protection Program set to compensate the club with approximately 400,000 euros. This compensation mechanism activates as the 28-day milestone post-injury is reached, specifically on December 14.

Understanding FIFA’s Club Protection Program

FIFA’s Club Protection Program is designed to provide indemnification to football clubs. The compensation, based on the player’s fixed salary, comes into play when international players face injuries lasting over 28 consecutive days due to incidents occurring during national team matches.

Coverage Period and Compensation Limits

The program’s coverage spans from the moment the player embarks on national team duties, concluding at midnight on the day their involvement with the national team concludes or 48 hours after leaving the team. The compensation structure allows clubs to receive a maximum indemnity of up to 7,500,000 euros per player and accident.

Calculation and Limits of Compensation

Calculation of compensation involves a daily rate of up to 20,548 euros for a maximum duration of 365 days. The overarching limit for FIFA’s Club Protection Program stands at 80 million euros annually.

Real Madrid’s expected compensation of approximately 410,960 euros considers the twenty-day period from December 14, marking the 28-day injury milestone, until January 2 when Vinicius returned to the squad following the club’s medical clearance.

A Win-Win Situation for Real Madrid

As Vinicius rejoins the squad, Real Madrid not only gains a valuable asset on the field but also secures a financial boost through FIFA’s compensation program. The successful implementation of such programs not only safeguards the interests of clubs but also contributes to the overall stability and resilience of the footballing ecosystem.
