Real Madrid have announced the fourth contract renewal in about a week. This time; Uruguayan midfielder Federico Valverde takes center stage.

The 25-year-old is now set to stay at Real Madrid by contract until at least 2029.

The player, together with Florentino Pérez, Juni Calafat and his agent Ryan Harper met in Valdebebas on Thursday afternoon to finalize the signing.

Announcing his renewal, Real Madrid said in a statement: “Real Madrid C. F. and Fede Valverde have agreed to the extension of the player’s contract, which is linked to the club until June 30, 2029.”

“Valverde arrived at Real Madrid in July 2016, when he was only 18 years old. In his six seasons defending the first team shirt, he is already one of the best midfielders in the world. He has played 220 matches, in which he has scored 19 goals and won 9 titles: 1 Champions League, 2 Club World Cups, 1 European Super Cup, 2 Leagues, 1 Copa del Rey and 2 Spanish Super Cups.”

“Valverde has been MVP of the 2020 Spanish Super Cup final and Silver Ball in the 2023 Club World Cup,” the club added.

This season, Valverde leads Real Madrid’s league rankings in interceptions (16), key passes (25), second in both accurate through balls (3) and assists (2).

His renewal follows that of Rodrygo, Camavinga and Vinicius Junior.
