Real Madrid held its final training session of the week before facing Sevilla at the Sanchez Pizjuan. There was a notable absentee in training, Spanish midfielder Dani Ceballos.

The 27-year-old did not train with the team on Thursday, and repeated same on Friday. Reports from Javi Herraez indicated that he had suffered a muscle problem.

However, top Real Madrid journalist Mario Cortegana has shed more light on the situation of the Spaniard.

According to Mario, Dani Ceballos is expected to miss the Clasico due to a muscle injury. He specifically suffered a micro tear in the rectus muscle in his right leg.

The injury is considered to be a minor one but it will still sideline him for 7 to 10 days. Ceballos will also miss Los Blancos’ La Liga fixture against Sevilla on Saturday, the Champions League group stage clash against Braga next week and the huge Clásico.

He was one of the few players left out of Carlo Ancelotti’s squad list for the game this weekend.

Return date

The player is now expected to be sidelined and treated to return to group training as soon as possible. He is expected to return to action on November 5 against Rayo Vallecano.

Dani renewed his contract with the Spanish giants last summer until 2027.

He has played just 73 minutes this season across 4 games, all coming on as a substitute. It should be remembered that he suffered a hamstring injury in pre-season which kept him out of the first 3 Real Madrid games.
