Real Madrid have still not had their desired player as a replacement for Karim Benzema, who left the club this summer to Saudi Arabia.

Despite having an entire transfer window available, Los Blancos decided not to enter the market for a top striker.

Head coach Carlo Ancelotti reportedly asked the club’s board to sign English striker Harry Kane, which never materialized.

Several reports also linked Paris Saint-German star Kylian Mbappé to the Bernabéu but – just like every other year – he ended up staying in France.

The search for Mbappe continues

According to Diario Sport, Real Madrid are looking to sign Paris Saint-Germain forward Kylian Mbappé in January, according to Dario Sport.

The 14-time European champions have made the 24-year-old France international their priority when the transfer window reopens.

The aforementioned source also reports that if the Spanish giants are not able to reach a full agreement to sign him they will begin to look elsewhere.

The alternative duo

The alternative options in this case are Manchester City strikers Erling Haaland and Julián Álvarez.

Julian Alvarez has been linked to Real Madrid on several occasions and has even been pictures wearing the white jersey during his early years.

In January last year, MARCA’s Jose Felix Diaz reported that Real Madrid have kept an eye on the Argentine.

In the days when everyone talks about the future of Mbappé and Haaland, the sports management of the Real Madrid entity follow their own way which is searching for younger talents.

The World Cup winner joined the European champions in 2022 and has gone on to win the treble, playing an instrumental role.

Alvarez, closer to Madrid

Vice President of his former club River Plate, Matias Patanian in an interview with El Chiringuito last year stated: “Real Madrid did not talk to us about Julian Alvarez. Only Manchester City came.”

Another of his youth coaches Rafael Varas also stated: “At any moment, he [Julian Alvarez] can wear the Real Madrid shirt.”

With Erling Haaland, Manchester City will in no doubt look to tie their marksman down to a longer contract.

Diario Sport adds that Manchester City are interested in Brighton striker Evan Ferguson.

A successful move to the Etihad for the young striker will mean Real Madrid will be a step closer to signing the 23-year-old Argentine.
