The search for a goalkeeper continues after Real Madrid’s first choice option between the sticks Thibaut Courtois suffered a potentially season-ending anterior cruciate ligament injury. Several names have been mentioned, but head coach Carlo Ancelotti addressed the issue during Friday’s press conference, giving all the necessary confidence to second choice option Andriy Lunin who is set to start tonight against Athletic Club

“We give all the confidence in the world to Lunin, who is a great goalkeeper. In the pre-season he did well. Total confidence in him, we think he is a talent. What he lacks is what everyone lacks, the experience, but he will take it little by little”, said the Italian.

When asked about signing a new goalkeeper, he said: “The confidence is total in Lunin and in the next few days we will see if we sign one more goalkeeper to the squad.”

“We have time until the 31st, behind Lunin the goalkeepers have potential, but they are young. We will think about it. Fran is 17 years old, if we sign we will do it by number, because we have confidence in Lunin.”

According to German transfer expert Florian Plettenberg, Chelsea’s Kepa is now close to rejecting Bayern Munich. The German club have been informed that he is on the verge of joining Real Madrid.

Kepa was reportedly close to joining Bayern in the last hours.

The Spaniard was code to joining Real Madrid in the winter of 2019 but then coach Zinedine Zidane blocked the deal from happening.
