‘The FIFA virus’ – Real Madrid faces player shortage due to injuries after international break

Real Madrid is dealing with a challenging situation as injuries have hit the team hard, reports Diario AS.

Camavinga and Vinicius join a growing list of players on the sidelines, leaving coach Carlo Ancelotti with only 14 available players out of 23 for the upcoming match against Cádiz.

Injuries have been a recurring issue this season, affecting up to twelve players who would typically form a strong lineup. The team is now dealing with a total of 17 injuries, making it difficult for Ancelotti to form a complete squad.

The goalkeeping situation has been complicated by Courtois’s season-ending injury, leading to the recruitment of Kepa, who is also now dealing with injuries and may return in late November or early December.

The defense has seen significant setbacks, with all four regular starters facing injuries of varying severity. Militao’s cruciate ligament injury, Alaba’s abductor problem, Carvajal’s muscle injury, and Mendy’s hamstring issue have created challenges for Ancelotti in organizing the defensive line.

The midfield is grappling with the absence of both Tchouameni and Camavinga due to injuries.

Tchouameni is expected to return before the end of the year, while Camavinga faces a more extended recovery from a knee ligament rupture. Bellingham, another key player, is also recovering from a shoulder dislocation.

In the center of the field, players Arda Güler and Ceballos have been significant casualties, dealing with various injuries. Güler’s three injuries, including knee surgery, an anterior rectus injury, and a quadriceps rupture, have kept him from making an appearance.

Ceballos, the first to face injury this season, is expected to be sidelined for another month with quadriceps discomfort.

In the attacking department, Vinicius has faced two injuries, one in late August to early September and another while on international duty with Brazil.

Real Madrid’s injury list could form a formidable team, requiring tactical adjustments. Ancelotti faces the challenge of managing a team with a shrinking bench due to persistent injury issues.
