The cost of signing Kylian Mbappe: Evaluating the potential transfer fee and speculations

The potential signing of Kylian Mbappe, the 24-year-old Paris Saint-Germain forward with just one year remaining on his contract, comes with a hefty price tag.

The football observatory CIES, via MARA rates Mbappe at 163.2 million euros, considering his one-year contract situation. This figure could rise to 261.8 million euros if he signs a contract extension for three years or more.

Other reputable sources such as Transfermarkt and Football Benchmark provide similar estimates of around 180 million euros.

Deadline and contract situation

PSG has set a deadline of 31 July for Mbappe to decide on renewing his contract until 2025. The club will begin evaluating offers only after this date.

However, Mbappe has publicly expressed his intention to honor his current contract until 2024, rejecting the idea of a transfer. This means that if he remains at PSG until 2024, he could potentially be signed by another club for free.

Interest and speculation

Real Madrid is the leading club that wants to sign Kylian Mbappé, which is the club of his dreams. So far he has not made an offer but after Mbappe was removed from the squad PSG took him in the pre-season, Los Blancos is one to watch.

Kylian Mbappé is not among of the players that PSG took to Japan in the pre-season and is ready to accept offers from teams that want to sign him so that they does not lose him for free next summer.

Other clubs that are said to be looking for him are Al Hilal who are said to be ready to offer him €400m salary and pay €200m to Paris Saint-Germain and sign him until 2024, then allow him to go to Real Madrid next summer.

Chelsea, Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur are other clubs said to be interested in signing Kylian Mbappé this summer.
