Vinicius Junior’s recovery from his hamstring injury is progressing positively, with a possible return to action for Real Madrid in mid-January, reports The Athletic.

Initially, the Brazilian forward was expected to be out until February after sustaining the injury during Brazil’s match against Colombia on November 16. Real Madrid had confirmed a “femoral biceps tear with involvement of the distal tendon in his left leg.”

While it was initially estimated as a six-week absence, the tendon’s involvement increased the recovery timeline. Privately, Real Madrid anticipated around two and a half months without Vinicius Jr.

However, the 23-year-old has shown promising signs, having resumed light activities on the pitch, although he’s yet to join team training. The club remains cautious, not willing to rush his return, especially with the Spanish Super Cup on January 10 against Atletico Madrid.

Though optimistic, the club refrains from confirming an exact return date, prioritizing Vinicius Jr’s full recovery over hurried participation.
