Two weeks ago, Paris Saint-Germain president Nasser Al-Khelaifi made strong statements during new PSG coach Luis Enrique’s unveiling. There, the president answered questions on Kylian Mbappe’s future: “If Mbappe does not renew in 2 weeks, the door is open. That’s why he has to decide next week, or at most in two weeks. And if he doesn’t want to sign a new contract, the door is open. It’s like that for him and for all the others.”

This sparked a lot of discussions about the future of the 2018 World Cup winner who was close to making it a back-to-back in Qatar last December. In effect, the two-week ultimatum ends this week, making it the most decisive week in knowing the future of the player. PSG will travel to Japan on a pre-season and as reports indicate, PSG intend to finalize the player’s future before the trip.

Also football transfer expert Fabrizio Romano reports that by Tuesday July 18, if PSG can’t guarantee young star Xavi Simons that either Mbappé or Neymar will leave, he will leave on loan. This in effect means a decision will be made by Tuesday whether Kylian Mbappé or Neymar will leave the club. But as it stands, it seems Xavi Simons will leave the club on loan.

Another instance which proves that this could be the most decisive week is that, Kylian himself indicated in previous years that he did not eat the issue of his future to be dragged a long way.

There will certainly be meetings in the coming hours. And a definite decision on the players future will be made soon. PSG still stand by their decision: either you renew or we will sell you this summer.
