Martin Ødegaard talks his time at Real Madrid, says Real is biggest in the world
In a recent interview with Diario AS, Martin Ødegaard, the Norwegian football talent and former Real Madrid player, opened up about his experiences at Real Madrid and his admiration for fellow countryman Erling Haaland.
Coping with Real Madrid’s expectations
Ødegaard began by acknowledging the immense pressure that comes with being part of Real Madrid.
In his own words, “My time at Madrid was good. It was a positive phase in my career. I learned and matured a lot. But I needed to play more. I’m happy with my decision to leave and how my career has progressed. Real Madrid is the biggest club in the world, and the pressure there is substantial.
“Without my time at Real Madrid, I wouldn’t be the player I am today. The club helped me grow, but it was time for me to move on and seek more playing time.”
Haaland’s unparalleled prowess
Ødegaard, who is currently playing and captaining Arsenal, also expressed his admiration for Haaland, saying, “Erling Haaland is the best forward in the world. He’s an incredible player. But in the Norwegian national team, we have more than just him.”
Norway’s Euro qualification prospects
Discussing Norway’s Euro 2024 qualification campaign, Ødegaard stated, “We’ve had some challenges, especially at the beginning of matches. But we still have a chance to qualify. We need to work together as a team to achieve our goal.”
Preparing to face Spain
Ødegaard highlighted the importance of facing Spain, saying, “Playing against Spain is always special. The most crucial thing for us is the opportunity to qualify. We must be tactically clever and avoid errors to beat a strong opponent.”
