Carlo Ancelotti, the head coach of Real Madrid, is gearing up for a legal battle with the Madrid Provincial Prosecutor’s Office.

Accprding to SPORT, the office has requested a sentence of four years and nine months for alleged tax fraud, accusing Ancelotti of not declaring income from the exploitation of image rights during the fiscal years 2014 and 2015, amounting to 1,062,079 euros.

Despite Ancelotti declaring his innocence and promptly paying the claimed amount, the legal dispute looms large.

Drawing inspiration from former Real Madrid player Xabi Alonso, who successfully navigated a similar situation, Ancelotti aims to challenge the allegations and seek a favorable resolution through the legal system.

Taking Xabi Alonso’s Case as a Precedent: In 2019, Xabi Alonso faced accusations related to tax issues but vehemently denied any wrongdoing.

Following a lengthy legal process, Alonso was eventually acquitted of all charges in January 2024, with the Madrid Prosecutor’s Office recommending the closure of the case.

Ancelotti, along with his legal team, appears poised to adopt a strategy akin to Alonso’s to contest the accusations against him.

Ancelotti’s Defense: In response to the allegations, Ancelotti expressed confidence in his innocence, emphasizing that the fine has been paid, and the case is now in the hands of his legal representatives.

He underscored that the situation revolves around the Prosecutor’s Office’s belief that he was a resident in 2015, a claim he disputes.

The Legal Road Ahead: Ancelotti’s decision to follow the legal path taken by Xabi Alonso suggests a proactive approach to clear his name.

As the legal proceedings unfold, Ancelotti will aim to present a compelling defense and potentially achieve a resolution that mirrors Alonso’s successful outcome.

This legal saga poses significant implications for Ancelotti, not only in terms of his personal reputation but also for his role as the head coach of one of the world’s most prestigious football clubs, Real Madrid.

As the case progresses, the sporting world will be closely watching the developments surrounding Ancelotti’s pursuit of the ‘Xabi Alonso route’ in his tax dispute
