Real Madrid traveled to Italy in midweek to face Serie A defending champions Napoli. Los Blancos managed a 3-2 win in an exciting game.

Next up for Carlo Ancelotti’s men is a league game against Osasuna at the Bernabéu on Saturday.

Both teams met in the final of the Copa del Rey last season, which ended in a 2-1 win for Real.

Osasuna go into the game in ninth place, having won just three of their first eight league games.

On the other hand, Real Madrid have won all but one of their opening eight fixtures.

Real boss Carlo Ancelotti answered questions from the media following the final training session prior to the game.

Firstly, the Italian spoke about the game on Saturday: “We know the difficulty, Osasuna always play good games here, we haven’t beaten them in the last two times.”

Carlo Ancelotti then spoke about Vinicius Junior and his court appearance on Thursday, testifying before the court on racial chants he suffered when Real Madrid played Valencia last May: “An attempt is made to divert the shot, which is that Vinicius was the victim of racial insults, it doesn’t matter if they were one or ten. There are media that want to divert the shot from this, it makes me sad and angry.”

The coach then spoke about the 2030 World Cup to be hosted in Spain: “I think it’s very good for Spanish football. It doesn’t matter if it is also played in Portugal and Morocco. It’s very good news.”

Austrian center back David Alaba has been ruled out of the game on Saturday, of which the coach said: “We have tested Tchouaméni these two days in training. The defensive aspect that he uses as a pivot, he can use it as a center back. It’s going very well. The other is Mendy, who is used to playing in the back line.”

Modrić leaving in January…

“I don’t think he’s raising it, we think he is very important and he knows it too, he doesn’t have that thought and we’re happy with him.”

How Vini is doing after his court appearance

“I haven’t talked to him about that, I haven’t talked, no one knows. But he is very good, very motivated and happy to play tomorrow.”

On Luka Modrić

“I talk to him every day and I see a player who is obviously not happy for not playing, but having said that, he maintains a high motivation and enthusiasm to contribute something to the team, what he contributes in the locker room can not be done by anyone. I understand perfectly that it affects him not to play, it happens to everyone who loves Modrić. Fans, teammates, the coach… who also loves him.”

On the game on Saturday

“We want to play football quickly and intensely to find solutions as soon as possible. Real Madrid expect the same thing, that they will defend well and that they will try to find us misplaced to hurt us. We have to attack with intelligence.”

The 2030 World Cup final

“It should be played in Madrid and at the Bernabéu because it’s going to be the best stadium in the world, just because of that.”

Rodrygo not scoring

“It’s a moment that the strikers spend throughout their career. When it costs more to score you have to endure and not focus only on that, you have to contribute to other things, what he does. At the moment we haven’t needed his goals.”

Responding to Simeone’s words

“He was talking about intensity, about energy, we have it with these young people. Everyone has to play with the characteristics of the players you have. You can win with veterans and young people. I have done it both ways. To play with intensity it is clear, young people endure more, veterans have other characteristics.”

Simeone’s words: “Except for Real Madrid who can compete in Europe because they have extraordinary young players, it’s tough for other teams. Sevilla struggled yesterday, Barcelona did too, and so did we.”

The Vini-Bellingham duo

“They have different characteristics, but they combine well. Vini enters from the outside, Bellingham more from the inside. If the combination between them is good, we will have more successes.”

Fran Garcia called up by Spain

“He has done well at the beginning of the season although now Camavinga has been there. Fran is very good, motivated, I think it’s fair that he was called.”
