In an interview following their hard-fought victory against Sevilla at the Santiago Bernabéu, Real Madrid midfielder Luka Modric reflected on the match and the key factors that led to their crucial three points.

“It was a very difficult match,” Modric acknowledged. “Sevilla presented a real challenge, but ultimately, we secured the win, and that’s all that matters in the end.”

“While it would have been more comfortable to score earlier, the three points are what truly bring us joy. I’m personally happy to have contributed with the winning goal, and we need to maintain this momentum moving forward.”

Modric went on to explain his thought process behind the spectacular long-range strike that sealed the victory.

“It all comes down to consistent practice,” he revealed. “We dedicate time every day at Valdebebas to honing our shooting skills. It’s about taking those chances, and today, I took mine, and thankfully, it found the net.”

When asked about the defining element in their triumph, Modric emphasized the importance of unwavering resolve. “Our persistence was truly the key,” he stated.

“We never stopped pushing, relentlessly creating opportunities, and ultimately, our determination paid off. We were clear that the three points were crucial, especially with Barcelona closing the gap.

“We demonstrated the true Real Madrid spirit – never giving up until the final whistle blows. While we strive to secure victories earlier in matches, sometimes things unfold differently, and we need to adapt accordingly.”

Beyond the immediate game, Modric also shared his thoughts on the return of his former teammate, Sergio Ramos, who now plays for Sevilla. “He’s more than just a teammate; he’s a friend, a brother,” Modric expressed.

“He remains a phenomenal player, consistently showcasing his undeniable talent. Regardless of attempts to define us by age, he continues to perform at the highest level. It was a genuine pleasure to see him again.

He played exceptionally well, and his return to the Bernabéu undoubtedly filled him with excitement and emotion. Though he donned the opposition’s colors today, the fans recognized his legacy – a legend of Real Madrid and a true giant of the sport.”
