Report: Real Madrid renews contracts of two key pillars of back-room staff

Real Madrid’s victory in the Champions League has not led to complacency; instead, the club is vigorously enhancing its squad and backroom staff for the next season and beyond. The arrival of Kylian Mbappé last month was a significant move, signaling Real Madrid’s ambitions and serving as a strong statement to other European clubs.

The strategic strengthening doesn’t stop with player acquisitions. Real Madrid is also focusing on retaining key backroom staff members essential to the team’s success. According to Marca, the contracts of physical trainer Antonio Pintus and goalkeeper coach Luis Llopis have been renewed.

Antonio Pintus, originally brought to Real Madrid by Zinedine Zidane for the 2016/2017 season, played a crucial role in the team’s physical preparation during a historic League-Champions double. Despite his merits, Zidane let him go in 2019 due to differing opinions on staff loyalty. Pintus, however, returned to Real Madrid in 2021, resuming his role as head of physical preparation and overseeing the physical training methodology for all the club’s teams. The club’s decision to extend his contract highlights their confidence in his successful work and physical planning formula.

Luis Llopis, on the other hand, rejoined Real Madrid in 2015 to enhance the development of goalkeepers at La Fábrica, Real’s youth academy. His work gained the admiration of notable figures such as Arrigo Sacchi and Zinedine Zidane, who promoted him to the first team in 2016. Although Llopis left for Real Sociedad, he returned to Madrid in 2021. His contract renewal ensures the continued high standard of goalkeeping at the club.
