Thibaut Courtois gives a hint about his retirement plan.
Courtois has conveyed his intention to stay with Real Madrid and potentially conclude his career with the club. At present, the Belgian shot-stopper is 31 years old and aims to extend his contract on a yearly basis when it expires in 2026. He anticipates being 34, but is optimistic about his prospects of playing beyond that age.
Courtois: “I’m so happy at Real Madrid, my wish is to retire here. I’ll take things year by year and make sure I take care of myself. Luckily goalkeepers can last a long time in football.”
He also cited Luka Modric, who is 37 years old and still playing, as an inspiration for his desire to play for as long. Courtois: “Luka Modrić is 37 and he is still going so I hope I can play for a long time too.”
