Christophe Dugarry, the 1998 World Cup champion with France, expresses his frustration with the ongoing discussions about Kylian Mbappé’s future. The football legend is tired of the six-month cycle of speculation surrounding whether Mbappé will stay at Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) or embark on a new club venture.

Dugarry shared his exasperation on RMC (via Marca), stating, “I feel like every six months it’s the same: he stays, he goes… That bothers me. I’m tired of this. I want Mbappé to engage in a club project and stop being involved in a more personal project. I’m tired of hearing gossip about his future club every six months. I’m fed up. I’m not interested anymore.”

As 2024 marks a crucial year for Kylian Mbappé, who becomes a free agent on June 30 after his contract with PSG expires, Dugarry hopes the player will make a decision about his next career move. He emphasizes that since January 1, Mbappé is free to negotiate his future.

Dugarry is clear about his desire for Mbappé’s next steps, stating, “I hope he leaves, from the bottom of my heart. I think he’s stagnating. I find that in his duels, he’s becoming more predictable, lacking strength and character in the fight. I find that he disappears too often from certain battles. With his attitude, with his arms increasingly raised, it’s quite negative.”

Dugarry urges Mbappé to think more about the collective rather than the individual, stating, “Until proven otherwise, football is a team sport. They didn’t hire him for statistics but to help his club win the Champions League. This is not the case at the moment.”

Critiquing Mbappé’s attitude, the 1998 World Cup champion with France notes, “He wanted all the power, to be the team leader, and now that he is, he seems a bit like a little kid. Sometimes it feels like the suit is too big for him. When he wants his team to attack, his coach tells him to defend. When he wants to play on the left, they put him as a center forward. I feel he’s a bit lost.”

Meanwhile, the Real Madrid is on standby, ready to contact Mbappé this week to determine his willingness to join. The club is clear that they won’t accept ambiguity or evasiveness. If Mbappé signals a positive response, Real Madrid plans to expedite the deal, including the contract details of a 26 million net salary per year and a signing bonus of 130 million.
